Instructor and class

Description of the class project

Karla Alexander Arboretum

This quilt will bring out the gardener in anyone with or with out a "green thumb". Watching leaves float through the air and fall to the ground is an awesome advantage Karla has from her studio windows each Fall. She couldn't resist the temptation to design this image into a quilt, Arboretum. With her easy technique, you will learn to piece leaves together, each being different in size and color, resulting in a lovely quilt in a size designed exclusively for the cruise!

Marci Baker  Tumbling Blocks Signature Quilt

In this class, Marci will show you a fun way to make a quick quilt using strip piecing techniques (this is definitely NOT your grandmother's technique for making a Tumbling Blocks quilt).  The completed wall hanging size quilt could be used to collect the signatures of the special guests and instructors on the cruise!!

Joyce Becker   Mystery Landscape

Want to learn how to create a gorgeous landscape quilt without the headache of selecting and lugging fabrics onboard? Designed especially for this cruise, Joyce’s “mystery” kit includes incredibly realistic and gorgeous landscape fabrics. You’ll learn Joyce’s slick and easy methods of “cut and glue” designing, stitching with invisible thread, and embellishing techniques. A fun class with lots of tips and laughter! If you prefer to have additional time to work on the project with Joyce’s assistance, you may select this as both your primary and additional class.

Janet Bottroff Watercolor Quilt

Solve the mystery of creating a watercolor quilt depicting a true New England icon, the ever present lighthouse! The required class kit will contain all the fabric needed to complete the picture and special embellishments for details that will bring the scene to life. This will be a special keepsake of your cruise and all its memories.

Roxanne Carter Autumn Glory Quilt

Autumn flowers surround star points in this easy wall quilt. Learn to do paper foundation piecing using freezer paper and learn all the tricks to make this fun 32" x 32" quilt!

Mimi Dietrich Appliqué Delight

There will be no mystery to this class with Mimi!  Quilters in the class will create a Baltimore Album style wall hanging size quilt using Mimi’s favorite appliqué techniques. This is a fun class for all quilters - great for beginners as well as experienced quilters who want to brush up on appliqué techniques.

Anita Mahoney  Simply No Mystery

This beginner friendly wall size quilt will feature a color palette of fabrics reminiscent of the popular prints by P. Buckley Moss on her favorite subject, the Plain People!  Anita’s classes are always popular with beginners because of her focus on teaching basic techniques and tips that will make your finished quilt a masterpiece of perfection, even if you are a beginner!

Kathy Scott Embellishing Techniques

Take the mystery out of how to embellish your quilted projects to enhance them and make them uniquely your own!  Kathy will demonstrate numerous embellishing techniques with tips and tricks that will inspire you to “think outside of the box”!  A fun class for beginners and advanced quilters!

Lisa Stewart Mysteriously Easy Zippered Bag

This fun and easy class is designed to get you out of your "all cotton" doldrums by using beautiful fabrics such as silk, brocades, velvets and ribbons, with tips on how best to use them.  Best of all, though, is that you'll learn to put them together with the Quilt-as-you-go method of piecing and quilting all at the same time, along with the painless application of a zippered closure.  As the finishing touch, Lisa will teach you how to make a fabulous beaded zipper pull. Your bag will make an impressive gift and is easily customizable.  Lisa will have lots of examples to inspire you to make one to match all your outfits!  The required class kit is available in your choice of Breast Cancer Awareness Pink, Sexy Midnight Black, or Rich Chocolate Brown.

Retta Warehime Guess Again

Once again, Retta will offer the element of “surprise” to her class – a quilt that will be featured in a book to be published shortly before or after the cruise sails!  You’ll be among the first to make this new and exciting wall hanging size quilt featuring fabrics selected by Retta that will be perfect for this project!!
